“Back to Black”
Amy Winehouse still is a creative inspiration. It’s undeniable that she had a unique personality and talent that didn’t match completely with the time she lived in. And it’s not just because of her vintage look. Amy was so much more than that. Her deep and scratchy voice took us on a journey to the time of the great soul and gospel singers, and her sad and heartbreakingly realistic lyrics moved us all in inexplicable ways.
I hope the viewer see her despite her suffering and tragic life for the beautiful, talented and inspiring woman she was and still is to me and many.

This painting was inspired by Frida Kahlo, an incredibly amazing woman. Her life was filled with physical as well as emotional pain. She endured more in her short life than most people will ever have to face. But she endured. Her work is a rare blend of true emotion, heartbreak, love, and life, as well as death. An artist and woman who has expressed in her work the feelings and creative power of woman. Her warrior spirit resonates with me and therefore she is a great inspiration to me.
