About Me

My name is Jacky Krielaart. I’m a self-taught mixed media artist, currently living in Amsterdam and working from a studio in my home. I completed my graduation in art and art history at high school and continued learning by attending courses at art academies and Dutch artist Anne Leegstra. I am bound to no medium, but I gravitate towards acrylics in most my pieces. My subject matter is abstract expressionism and figurative portrait painting. My current work is primarily contemporary art.

Creativity is my life and life-safer. I have a huge fascination for life and the experiences it offers. This is my never-ending magical source of inspiration. Life has presented me some very strong emotions to deal with, which I express through my art. My work is self-therapeutic and expressionistic at its core. My art is a piece of who I am, it is about the process of discovery, recovery, expressing my personal feelings with the media and the colors that inspire me.

I have a passion for color, texture, and movement that are conveyed in my abstract and figurative creations. The image is not the focus, but rather a part of the process. My goal is to have the elements of color and texture unleash a sense of calming emotion for the viewer, evoking a visceral and possibly cognitive experience of that which is asking to be seen, heard, felt, understood.
